Students from Department of Transportation and Logistics Management Participating Interdisciplinary Genetic Engineering Seminar

  • 11838608_942126579162119_6499726083075831886_o.jpgThe 3rd International Genetic Engineering Seminar held by Department of Biological Science, National Chiao Tung University this year was five-day exchange activity from July 19th to 23rd. There were total 26 teams participated in the seminar this time, and the team members were mainly from Asia iGEM team across the strait. The purpose of the seminar was to let students to find out the solutions for the problems in daily life, design solutions through brainstorming, and then look for relevant literature or use experiment to approve the ratiocination.

    Although the intention of genetic engineering competition focuses on biological science, the participation of students from interdisciplinary is to bring students new vision on one hand and advance competition dimensions on the other hand for packaging and marketing the project in order to achieve bright and successful presentation. LIN Yu-Ting from Department of Transportation and Logistics Management College of Management join the team of biological science, National Chiao Tung University from other interdisciplinary under the recruitment of friends. The biological science team of National Chiao Tung University this year was formed by 16 students, and Department of Biological Science arranged 6 students who attended the last seminar to be instructors other than arranged three professors as supervisors.

    LIN Yu-Ting is now studying in the second year of undergraduate program at Department of Transportation and Logistics Management College of Management, and she joins badminton team and mountain-climbing club in her free time. When her friends explained to her the concept of the seminar, Miss Lin found it very interesting and also very challenging and she decided to join the biological science team of National Chiao Tung University. Other than responsible for the English presentation in the team, she participated in every discussion and every process to do brainstorming together, collect information together, and assist the editing of website content, magazine and poster; she had overall comprehensive understanding for the whole program. According to Miss LIN Yu-Ting, “we held many conferences for the seminar, and we interviewed the doctors in the hospital in the real practice. I did learn a lot from these experiences.”
