    Winston & Strawn LLP and National Chiao Tung University, School of Law are pleased to invite you to an executive summit discussion of Patent Litigation at the U.S. International Trade Commission (“ITC”) and the Valuation of IP Portfolios for Licensing and Settlement Negotiations.

    This program will feature U.S. intellectual property experts, including Judge Theodore Essex, Administrative Law Judge at the ITC; and Randall R. Rader, former Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Each speaker will bring a unique perspective on patent litigation and licensing before the ITC.

    Appointed in 2007, Judge Theodore Essex currently serves as an Administrative Law Judge at the U.S. International Trade Commission, where he hears international patent and trademark disputes. Prior to his USITC appointment, he served as a judge with several other U.S. government departments and as a JAG (Judge Advocate General) officer in the United States Air Force. Judge Essex also has extensive experience in private practice as a trial attorney.

    Randall R. Rader is a former federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He joined the court in 1990 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush and retired from the bench in 2014. He is a frequent speaker at law schools and international conferences, and he has authored numerous publications on patent law.
